Region 190 - We are Sterling Heights Soccer

Content

AYSO Region 190 Board have completed our plans for running the fall season with the COVID-19 restrictions required by the State, County, and city of Sterling Heights.   We are playing games in masks as required by the state.

We are providing skills training sessions on weeknights at Christ Lutheran Church on 12500 Canal Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313.  Training sessions are once a week starting September 1st, and ending October 15th.  All training sessions will start at 6:00 pm and go until 7:30 pm.  We will have a professional trainer plan and oversee the training sessions.  Each coach and team will have a designated field for their practice, and will run the same session as all other coaches.  Prior to the start of the session, all players must arrive with masks on and find an empty dot to stand on while awaiting check-in.  A volunteer will confirm the players meet the guidelines to participate, and check their temperature with a touch-less forehead thermometer.

GAMES
Full games are on Saturdays only for most teams this fall and require the use of masks by all participants and spectators as required by Executive Order 176 and 180. Sterling Heights fields, and in particular Delia Park Soccer Fields, are not open and we are playing in Clinton Township or Warren for home games this fall.  The season has started and some teams are full, so you may be waitlisted if you sign up today.  We anticipate reforming teams in spring and playing at our usual fields.  We will have full open sign-ups in March for spring.

Parents are encouraged to remain in/near their vehicles during the training session, and asked not to enter the field area. We ask that at most only 1 parent come to field for training sessions.  We will send parents back to the parking lot if we reach our capacity, or for a failure to comply with the COVID Guidelines.  Games require masks by spectators and have a limit of two spectators per player, per the governor's rules.

All sessions will be designed to be age appropriate with the following schedule:
Tuesday: 6:00 – 7:30 6U and 8U
Wednesday: 6:00 – 7:30 10U and 12U
Thursday: 6:00 – 7:30 14U and 19U

Sessions will consist of the following (order may vary):
1) Check – in
2) Warm Up
3) Drills 2-4 depending on complexity, needs
4) Competitive Challenge/Games associated with the Drills
5) Short water breaks
6) 3V3 games within a team.
